Ford has indicated that the front brake lines might rub against the engine air cleaner outlet pipe.
The recall affects 223,315 Ford Expeditions along with 50,474 Lincoln Navigators.
Notifications for owners regarding the recall will begin mailing on May 26, ahead of the repair process.
Brakes are crucial for stopping a vehicle, so it is understandable that when Ford discovered potential brake fluid leaks in some of its vehicles, they had to issue a significant recall in the United States.
In total, 273,789 vehicles are impacted, including the Expedition and Navigator models, both of which typically command attention on the road, albeit now for the wrong reasons.

The issue? Ford's recall notice states that in certain models, the front brake lines may contact the engine air cleaner outlet pipe. This could occur during assembly if the brake lines are bent while the engine is being installed. Brake lines, especially those close to the engine, should never be bent.
In the case of a brake fluid leak, the brake pedal could have extended travel and decreased deceleration. A rapid loss of brake fluid poses a significant risk to drivers, making it harder to stop and increasing the likelihood of an accident. Fortunately for Ford, they have not received any reports of crashes or injuries linked to this issue.
A total of 223,315 Ford Expedition models from the 2022-2024 model years are affected. These SUVs were manufactured between April 15, 2021, and November 20, 2024. Additionally, 50,474 Lincoln Navigators from the same model years are also included, produced during those same dates.
As of April 17, 2025, Ford had received 45 warranty reports regarding front brake line leaks, along with two field reports and two customer service reports related to the issue. The company was first notified of a potential problem on February 27, 2025.
Owners of the affected models will begin receiving recall notifications by mail starting on May 26. Dealers have been directed to check the front brake line for adequate clearance and will replace the brake lines and air cleaner outlet pipe if necessary.
