The 2026 Mercedes-AMG CLA has been spotted with less camouflage than ever before.

This high-performance sedan features a distinct front bumper and an active rear spoiler.

Reports indicate that the vehicle might utilize a tri-motor powertrain, producing over 500 hp.

Although the new Mercedes CLA EV has not yet launched in many areas outside Europe, including North America, development is already progressing for the upcoming AMG variant. As its debut approaches, more of the high-performance model is being revealed as the camouflage is removed.

Starting with the front, the car showcases a unique bumper with large air intakes, complemented by a new central opening featuring a distinctive mesh design. Additional details are challenging to discern, but the model includes a fully enclosed grille along with eye-catching headlights.

The styling overhaul continues with sportier side skirts and lightweight wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, supported by a robust braking system featuring red calipers in the front. There may also be AMG-specific badging on the front fender.

The rear end appears unremarkable at first but reveals an active spoiler upon closer inspection. We can also anticipate a modified bumper and diffuser to differentiate the AMG variant from the standard model.

Spy photographers didn’t capture much of the interior, but it is expected to have a minimalist design, complete with a sport steering wheel and several unique features. Anticipated tech includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment system, and a 14-inch display for the front passenger.

Mercedes has remained quiet on powertrain specifications, but previous reports suggest the car may feature axial flux motors developed by Mercedes’ Yasa subsidiary, possibly totaling three motors combined to produce over 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS).

This should position the car directly against the Tesla Model 3 Performance, which boasts 510 hp and can reach 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 163 mph (262 km/h).

Further rumors suggest that the AMG variant will include a unique battery pack and a “V8 Mode,” which is said to simulate the sound of a roaring V8, acknowledging what consumers desire.
