Owning a country club membership can give a sense of exclusivity, making you feel superior to those denied entry. But what if you were an elite even among country club members? What if you rank among the top one percent? You wouldn’t be content sharing the fairway with common dentists and lawyers in typical golf carts. Instead, you would need a Bodo E-Wagon golf cart, like the one that was recently auctioned at Mecum.

Now, aside from the fact that this resembles a lavish adult version of a Little Tikes car, it does have its charm. At first glance, it might be mistaken for a genuine Mercedes G-Class, at least until a person stands nearby for comparison. The design has clearly been adjusted for use as a golf cart. Bodo has also replaced Mercedes’ iconic three-pointed star with its own logo, though anyone determined enough could easily switch it out, especially if they value the badge as much as, or even more than, the vehicle itself.

The E-Wagon (also referred to as the “G-Wagon”—detailed information about its maker is surprisingly hard to find) is more advanced than the typical golf carts used on the course. For one, it features a fully enclosed cabin with power locking doors and power windows. As someone who suffers from allergies on the golf course, that sounds appealing. Inside, it boasts caramel-hued leather seating, heating and cooling systems, four-wheel disc brakes with brake assistance, a backup camera, and entertainment screens for passengers in the back. This is more than just an aesthetic upgrade—the E-Wagon offers a genuinely luxurious golfing experience. Its interior rivals that of my actual vehicle.

Speaking of real cars, this E-Wagon is capable of traveling on certain public roads. Some states permit low-speed vehicles (LSVs) to operate on streets with speed limits of 25 mph or lower. However, it is actually too swift for states like New Jersey, which only allow a maximum speed of 25 mph, while this faux Mercedes golf cart can reach 35 mph. If you choose to drive it on the road, it is equipped with functioning headlights, turn signals, and windshield wipers.

You can also cover considerable distances with it. Its 10-kWh battery offers an impressive range of 80 miles—comparable to the original BMW i3. Of course, it features only a 20-horsepower electric motor and is significantly smaller and lighter. Nonetheless, that's quite impressive for a fully equipped golf cart.

This particular E-Wagon was recently sold at a Mecum auction in Glendale, but there are more available through the Florida-based dealer Gulf Carts. And it's not solely G-Class replicas; options also include Range Rover, Porsche Cayenne, and even Ram TRX-themed carts. Ideal for those leaders of the green looking to showcase their wealth at the club.
