A nearly unused GMC Hummer EV was auctioned off for approximately $45,000 less than its original price, despite having minimal mileage and never being titled.

The 2024 3X Omega Edition had an MSRP of $140,000 but sold for $95,500 on Bring a Trailer. It has only traveled 404 miles and has not been previously owned.

While many of us aspire to own a brand-new vehicle, the depreciation that almost all but the most coveted models experience can be disheartening. This GMC Hummer EV serves as a prime example, selling for $45,000 less than its initial price even after just a few hundred miles of driving.

A base Hummer 3X would typically cost $104,650, but this particular model featured several desirable options. Notably, the $23,355 Omega Edition package included Neptune Blue matte paint, removable transparent roof panels, 18-inch beadlock wheels, and black emblems. Additionally, an Off-Road package added features like skid plates, underbody cameras, and locking differentials, costing an extra $9,995.

The total MSRP, including options, was $140,295; however, the final auction price for the GMC Hummer EV was just $95,500. In a previous listing on Bring a Trailer, bids had reached $95,750, which failed to meet the reserve, resulting in no sale. A week later, with the reserve lifted, the Hummer was sold at a bargain price.

Visually, this 830 hp (842 PS) triple-motor Hummer appears nearly brand new, which is expected given its low mileage of only 404 miles (650 km). This is roughly the distance an average American might drive in two weeks, indicating that the large 200+ kWh battery remains unaffected.

The new owner of this auctioned vehicle will be the first registrant since it never had a title before, as it was not sold to a private buyer and comes with its Manufacturer Certificate of Origin.

Purchasing a zero-mile new car can be advantageous if the dealer offers an attractive zero-percent financing deal, which is typically unavailable to auction participants. It is also worth noting that this is a 2024 model rather than a 2025, contributing to some of the depreciation. However, a savings of $45,000 off the MSRP is hard to dismiss, especially considering the potential $25,000 savings on a 2025 model with similar, but not identical, options.
