When you inquire with most individuals about their interest in automotive video games, they’re likely to think you’re referring to racing games. This assumption is understandable; after all, there are limited engaging avenues to explore in games that primarily revolve around driving. Most often, you’ll be either competing against other vehicles or opting for a Grand Theft Auto style, wreaking havoc on city streets. That is, of course, unless you delve into the realm of niche simulation games—a space that is set to expand this month with the launch of Car Dealer Simulator.
Simulations come in various forms, ranging from classic, text-based sports management games to intricate city-building and lifestyle simulations. You might even be familiar with some well-known automotive examples. Consider the Euro and American Truck Simulator series; while you’re not racing or crashing into pedestrians, you still spend considerable time managing a vehicle.
If you’re looking for something even more relaxed, there's an upcoming Kei truck simulator called “Honcho.” Additionally, there are car customization simulators and even car wash simulations, so why not a game that lets you roleplay as a rural American used-car dealer? That’s essentially what Car Dealer Simulator is all about.
In this game, you take over the operations of a retiring dealer and strive to grow it into a small-town business empire. You’ll be directly involved in purchasing, repairing, and selling the cars in your inventory, which includes arranging for replacement parts and even working on some of the vehicles yourself—vehicles that appear suspiciously similar to actual models, albeit with key details altered in a way that aligns with copyright standards.
It seems that the strategy for success mirrors the real-life car sales process—taking quality photos, cleaning and preparing the cars; I’m just unsure if there are bonuses for selling undercoating. If you persist, the game promises to guide you from a small, single-bay dealership to a modest automotive empire.
Car Dealer Simulator has already undergone pre-release testing and is currently available as a demo on Steam, with the full version set to release on May 29th.
