Tesla Is in Crisis: How Would You Rescue It? | Carscoops

Elon Musk is out, and you’re now in charge. What are your next steps?

Tesla is facing a pivotal moment as Musk's popularity wanes and protests are occurring at its dealerships.

The Cybertruck has not met expectations, while the Model S and X have slowed to a crawl in sales.

This is just a snapshot of their issues; how would you go about rescuing the company?

There are struggling car manufacturers, and then there's Tesla. The brand finds itself in a shocking predicament, targeted by protests connected to its CEO. As if that weren't enough, there have been incidents of vandalism at dealerships and cars being set on fire. Customer loyalty is waning, sales are declining, and revenue is dropping. Additionally, the Cybertruck has been unsuccessful, with Tesla's stock down nearly 25% year-to-date.

While this only scratches the surface, it raises an intriguing question: how would you rejuvenate Tesla? There may not be a straightforward solution, but a likely first move would be to part ways with Elon Musk and create distance between the company and him.

Although Musk is regarded as an outspoken figure who draws attention, this trait has turned from an asset into a significant liability, as numerous studies suggest he is generally unliked.

Determining the next steps may be more challenging, but parts of Tesla's product line have grown outdated. Despite recent updates to the Model 3 and Model Y, the Model S and X are starting to feel obsolete. A redesign or substantial refresh could certainly help, although it may not dramatically increase sales, as deliveries of vehicles other than the Model 3/Y only amounted to 12,881 units in the first quarter.

When it comes to low-volume models, it might be time to abandon the second-generation Tesla Roadster. Since its reveal in November 2017, it has felt more like a concept than a real product.

Discontinuing it would have multiple benefits, likely saving resources and distancing Tesla from Musk's unfulfilled promises. Speaking of unmet commitments, it's time to either deliver on or abandon the notion of 'true' full self-driving capabilities. While the Cybercab could achieve this, does anyone genuinely believe it at this point?

Beyond that, the company should maintain its focus on the Model 3 and Model Y. These models perform strongly for valid reasons and remain relatively new.

Regarding the Cybertruck, it seems Tesla is already responding to low demand by launching a more affordable version. This seems to be the correct strategy, with additional budget-friendly options likely on the way.

With all of this in mind, how would you rescue Tesla? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
