Cybertruck Owner’s Nazi Salutes Wreck His Business Instantly Following Intense Yelp Backlash | Carscoops
A San Francisco electrician is facing criticism after being recorded making Nazi salutes from his Cybertruck.
The owner of the Tesla drew attention for his actions, which included using slurs, leading to a flood of negative reviews on Yelp for his business.
In response, the owner has apologized and vowed to support anti-hate groups moving forward.
Nowadays, almost everyone carries a recording device, which means anything we do in public can be captured and shared online. This was a harsh lesson for one business owner, who was filmed making Nazi salutes from his Tesla Cybertruck, resulting in a significant drop in his company's Yelp ratings.
According to a Reddit post, the incident took place in Mission Bay, San Francisco. The poster recounted, "While I was walking home... the owner of Cyber Electric LLC repeatedly made the Nazi salute after shouting homophobic slurs at my friends and me. This behavior is incredibly offensive and reflects the company's values and beliefs. I pity anyone who displays such ignorance and hate."
A video of the incident confirms that someone in the truck was making the gesture, and the company logo is visible. However, the details leading to this situation remain unclear, leaving some to wonder if there is more context to consider.
The video prompted many viewers to take to Yelp to express their outrage towards Cyber Electric. One reviewer stated, “There is no place in Modesto for Nazi businesses. Don’t support fascism or homophobia.” Another reviewer from the Bay Area questioned, “Is this the kind of person you want in your home, around your family?” Yelp has since removed the negative reviews from the page, explaining their decision.
Yelp issued a statement saying, “This business recently attracted increased public attention, which often leads people to post their opinions about the news rather than actual consumer experiences. We have temporarily disabled content posting on this page while we investigate to ensure that the displayed content reflects real consumer experiences rather than recent events, even if that means halting users' ability to voice opinions we may agree with.”
In an effort to address the situation, Cyber Electric owner Marco Diaz has acknowledged his actions in a video on his YouTube channel, admitting to performing the Nazi salute. Although he denied using homophobic slurs, he recognized the hurt his actions caused. “To make amends, I am educating myself, supporting anti-hate groups, and ensuring my company promotes inclusion. I am dedicated to learning and rebuilding trust. I welcome your feedback and hope my actions demonstrate my sincerity,” he stated.
This incident serves as a reminder of the provocative actions that can have serious repercussions in today's world, where almost everything is recorded, and once a reputation suffers a blow like this, it is challenging to recover.
