Ford has issued a 'Do Not Drive' advisory for the owners of two Bronco vehicles.
Both units may have control arms that could become loose while in motion.
This concern was revealed through video footage taken during the manufacturing process.
Recalls appear to be occurring more often lately, and while some of this trend can be traced back to normal production challenges, advancements in technology also play a crucial role. Enhanced monitoring systems allow automakers to detect issues more promptly and effectively. A recent recall from Ford illustrates how contemporary technology aids manufacturers in addressing potential problems, preventing them from developing into more significant issues.
The specific problem involves a fastener that secures the front upper control arm to the steering knuckle. On April 2, Ford found a Ranger pickup with only 200 miles that was lacking this critical fastener. This discovery prompted an immediate investigation into how the vehicle could have been released from the factory without it.

Eight days later, a video captured the connection between the control arm and the knuckle and recorded footage of the Bronco assembly line. After a careful analysis, Ford uncovered two potential problems: two Broncos that “may have an unsecured joint.” If that joint were to detach, it could lead to a loss of steering control.
As a precaution, Ford has advised owners not to operate their vehicles until repairs are completed. Moreover, they plan to tow these Broncos to the dealership for safety reasons. The automaker has even shared the script used to inform the two owners about the issue.
“We are reaching out to inform you that we advise not driving your vehicle. There is a potential manufacturing issue with the front upper control arm ball joint on your vehicle that could cause partial loss of steering control while driving,” the script states.
By the time you read this, these owners will have already been notified through email or phone. Ford dealers received updates on April 11. This proactive stance is undoubtedly the right decision, and it’s good to see Ford prioritizing safety. Years ago, it is hard to imagine any automaker catching such a problem and resolving it before it worsened. Although recalls may be increasing, there is a positive aspect to consider in that trend.
