Mercedes Minivan Concept: A Billionaire's Transport with an Unattractive Design Only a Mother Could Appreciate | Carscoops
Mercedes has unveiled a luxurious concept van, the electric Vision V.
This limo-style van previews the next V-Class and is built on the VAN.EA architecture.
The "Private Lounge interior" boasts a 65-inch screen and 42 speakers.
In recent years, minivans have become exceptionally luxurious, with models like the Lexus LM and Volvo EM90 delivering a passenger experience that even traditional luxury sedans find hard to compete with. Now, Mercedes has taken this luxury to a new level with the Vision V.
While officially a concept, many elements seen here will be incorporated into the upcoming V-Class van set to launch in 2026, including the Mercedes-Benz Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) platform, the design, and the opulent interior. Mercedes indicates that this concept previews a high-end model that will compete with the Lexus LM.
The dashboard features a full-width panel with three distinct digital screens, but the real highlight is in the rear, where passengers enjoy a 65-inch cinema screen that rises from the floor as they board. This 4K display is complemented by 42 speakers, and seven projectors can utilize the windows as additional projection surfaces for an immersive 360-degree viewing experience.
Two futuristic lounge chairs, upholstered in crystal white Nappa leather and silk, can be fully reclined for power naps between those high-stakes deals. If you prefer a more intellectual pastime than the onboard video games, a foldable table transforms into a chessboard.
Aside from the VW ID.Buzz, vans typically lack style, but the Vision V successfully breaks this mold. Its curved rear window line imparts a near coupe-like feel, complemented by cleverly arranged LED lighting elements at both ends.
For example, the front grille, which resembles an extreme ab workout, is crafted from LED bars instead of chrome strips. As passengers approach, the grille performs a light show to welcome them, culminating in the Mercedes star on the domed hood illuminated. Additionally, the entire rear of the vehicle is outlined by a segmented LED ribbon composed of over 450 three-dimensional illuminated louvres that function as both taillights and brake lights.
Mercedes has not provided specific details about the concept’s powertrain, but we know the VAN.EA platform supports 800-volt electrics for rapid charging, accommodates both single and dual-motor setups, and offers a driving range of up to 311 miles (500 km).
