Reports indicate that the Ford GT driver lost control while trying to catch up to a Mazda MX-5 on rural roads.

The supercar ended up sliding backwards into the woods and required a tow for extraction.

Allegedly, his father was directly behind him in a Corvette ZR-1 and witnessed the event.

Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, is not only a town with a unique name and a flair for trolls, but it also boasts some truly excellent driving routes. This was part of the attraction for a small group of car enthusiasts who recently gathered for a leisurely drive. While most returned home satisfied, one driver faced a more challenging situation, particularly the one operating a Ford GT, who ended up off the road and in the woods.

The cause? An attempt to pursue a Mazda MX-5. Ironically, the Ford GT wasn’t even his own; it belonged to his father.

In a somewhat amusing post on Reddit titled “Saw one out in the wild, literally,” this Ford GT clearly appeared worse for wear. The image shows it on a forest incline, covered in leaves, except right in front of the tires, indicating that it had slid into position backwards. Fortunately, a few individuals who claimed to have witnessed the incident shared further details.

      Dad’s Supercar, Kid’s Trouble

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the GT driver was attempting to catch a Mazda MX-5 when things went awry – quite literally. Although he lost control of his father’s car, he didn’t need to fret about informing him, as his dad was reportedly right behind in a Corvette ZR-1.

Despite the unexpected off-road adventure, the damage was surprisingly light. The car will require a new side skirt and a new magnesium wheel, the latter of which was damaged during the recovery. In fact, the American supercar was in good enough shape that it did not need a tow to return home. One witness even thinks it will only need an alignment. Talk about lucking out in nearly every respect.

This iteration of the Ford GT is highly regarded in the supercar community. Even though it's no longer the latest model, it still frequently sells for over $350,000 on the secondhand market, more than double the original asking price from Ford when it was newly released.

We’re relieved that everyone came away from this incident unscathed. However, hopefully, the driver has gained a bit more humility. He narrowly avoided damaging a magnificent car and potentially injuring himself or others. It's crucial for such driving to take place on the track, and this young driver appears to have the means to do just that going forward.
