      There's no doubt that the Ford Mustang Dark Horse offers exceptional performance and striking presence. It's a vehicle that seems made to dominate racetracks or shine at events like Cars & Coffee. However, as appealing as it is, there's a limit to what buyers are willing to pay in the used market, a reality that's becoming increasingly apparent.

      Earlier this week, bidding for a well-equipped Dark Horse reached $65,000. While that may seem reasonable initially, it’s noteworthy that the car had an original sticker price of $91,245 and only had 2,800 miles on it. Unfortunately, the highest bid fell short of the seller’s reserve, resulting in the car leaving the Bring a Trailer auction unsold.

      In the US, the starting price for the Dark Horse Premium was $69,375, but the initial owner opted for a range of options, resulting in a stunning configuration. The car features the striking Blue Ember Metallic, which serves as the standout color for the Dark Horse.

      This specific car also has the $2,495 Dark Horse Appearance Package, which adds blue accents to the seats, a black-painted roof, blue brake calipers, and distinctive hood graphics. Furthermore, it includes the $5,495 Dark Horse Handling Package, which boasts adjustable strut top mounts, MagneRide dampers, an upgraded front splitter and rear spoiler with a gurney flap, along with enhanced chassis tuning and a set of 305-width tires.

      The priciest option is the carbon fiber wheels, measuring 19x10.5 inches at the front and 19x11 inches at the rear, which add $8,995 to the total. These wheels are both costly and challenging to repair if damaged, and their aesthetic may not appeal to everyone. In total, this Mustang Dark Horse features an astounding $31,465 worth of options.

      There are numerous appealing performance car choices available for $90,000 or less, including the BMW M4 Competition and the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. In fact, one could secure a C8 with the 3LT and Z51 Performance Packages for less than the sticker price of this Mustang Dark Horse.
