On paper, the Chevrolet SSR might not have appealed to everyone. It's a heavy, slow, and complicated solution to a question that was never really posed. Yet, it's often the unusual (and even less desirable) cars that become valuable collector's items, as well as the most interesting finds. This 2004 model resembles something that was unearthed from the Everglades, and it clearly strays far from “survivor” status due to the significant rust visible everywhere.

If this were a more typical vehicle, we believe it would have been relegated to a junkyard long ago. Currently, it is being auctioned with IAAI in Florida. Only dealers, rebuilders, dismantlers, and exporters are eligible to place bids, so unless you possess the appropriate business license recognized in Florida, you won't be able to buy it to transform into coffee tables. It's disappointing, but considering the state of this truck, it’s probably best that amateurs stay away.

If you were hoping for some positive note in this listing, you might be more hopeful than I am. The SSR’s digital odometer is non-functional, so the actual mileage is unknown. The listing does mention that the title is clean, but as was often said in the early days of the Internet, one could register a deceased manatee as a street-legal vehicle in Florida with just a little effort.

Let’s be honest—even if the powertrain is functioning, this vehicle is no longer capable of being driven. The frame rails are so extensively damaged that it's almost surprising it hasn't collapsed. The description lists the main damage as being “All Over.” Yep, that's accurate.

Even if you're just interested in the parts, the outlook isn't promising. The listing does not provide photos of the engine bay or rear end; we suspect that most of the exhaust and running components suffer from corrosion as severely as the outer panels, and the V8 compartment is likely in no better condition. The cobweb-ridden interior is intact, possibly containing salvageable items, provided they haven't been damaged by years of UV exposure. Chevy may have dubbed this SSR’s hue “Ultra Violet,” but I doubt they were considering environmental damage.

This aptly titled "Ultra Violet" Chevy SSR sport truck has experienced its fair share of exposure to the elements.
