It's not every day that we encounter a new car name, but Japan's most adventurous automaker has introduced the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker. This model is essentially a larger version of the Solterra, featuring similar design elements and Toyota-sourced components.
Here are the essential facts and specifications: The Trailseeker measures six inches longer and nearly an inch taller than the Solterra. It is equipped with two electric motors that provide symmetrical all-wheel drive and a total of 375 horsepower. With a 72.7-kilowatt-hour battery, it offers a Subaru-estimated range of 260 miles, comes with a standard NACS port, charges at rates of up to 150 kW, and includes an optional 120-volt outlet to power your camping gear.

The vehicle can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and can tow up to 3,500 pounds. However, Subaru enthusiasts will likely be more interested in its 8.3 inches of ground clearance, X-Mode with Snow/Dirt, Deep Snow/Mud Modes, Grip Control, and Downhill Assist Control. Subaru also emphasized that the suspension and AWD system were developed internally.
On the other hand, the 14-inch touchscreen—the largest ever in a Subaru—was not developed internally. It is the same unit found in contemporary Lexus models and, not surprisingly, the recently updated 2026 Solterra. The earlier Solterra used a similar but distinct infotainment system found in more basic Toyotas.

This display supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and is positioned above two wireless phone chargers. Additionally, there are two USB-C ports in the back to keep passengers entertained. EyeSight ADAS is also standard.
The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker is set to go on sale next year, but it will be showcased at the New York International Auto Show this weekend. Pricing details have not been released, but the vehicle will be manufactured in Japan.
