The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E53 wagon boasts outputs of 577 hp and 604 hp.
The 2026 Mercedes E53 Wagon is set to debut in the United States later this year, joining the E450 All-Terrain with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers up to 604 hp. Customers will have the option to choose a special edition featuring AMG graphics and distinctive enhancements.
The excitement continues for fans of high-performance wagons, as Mercedes-AMG has announced the E53's arrival in the U.S., shortly after the release of the BMW M5 Touring earlier this year.
While Mercedes provided limited details about the vehicle, it closely resembles its European version and will come equipped with 20-inch wheels, with the possibility of opting for 21-inch wheels. Additionally, buyers can choose from AMG Night, AMG Night Plus, and AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber packages.
Regarding the interior, though specifics were sparse, we anticipate MB-Tex and Microfiber upholstery, alongside a standard 17-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system. Like the E450 All-Terrain, this model is expected to feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.4-inch infotainment display.
A variety of options will be available, including AMG Performance seats and Nappa leather. Customers may also select the MBUX Superscreen, adding a 12.3-inch display for the front passenger.
Power and Poise
On the performance side, the E53 will utilize a plug-in hybrid powertrain that includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, coupled with a 28.6 kWh battery and an electric motor integrated into a nine-speed automatic transmission, resulting in a combined output of 577 hp (430 kW / 585 PS) and 553 lb-ft (749 Nm) of torque.
These impressive figures enable the wagon to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just four seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). Standard features include rear-axle steering and an AMG Ride Control suspension with adaptive damping.
Want More? There’s a Package for That
For those seeking even greater performance, the AMG Dynamic Plus package is available. This package introduces a Race Start mode, raising the output to 604 hp (450 kW / 612 PS) and reducing the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time to 3.8 seconds.
In addition to the increased power, this variant features active engine mounts, a limited-slip rear differential, and an elevated top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h). It also includes a leather and microfiber AMG Performance steering wheel and a composite braking system with red calipers.
Special Edition, Special Treatment
For buyers desiring something more exclusive, the Edition 1 variant is an option. It showcases a distinctive Manufaktur Alpine Grey exterior with AMG graphics and 21-inch forged wheels. The company has indicated that this edition will offer unique accents along with a “specially curated interior featuring distinctive design elements and a comprehensive suite of standard equipment.”
Although Mercedes has yet to confirm an official arrival date or pricing for the E53 Wagon, it is anticipated to be priced slightly higher than the E53 Sedan, which starts at $88,000 plus a $1,150 destination fee. This would make it notably more affordable than the Audi RS6 Avant ($126,600) and the BMW M5 Touring ($121,500), despite those models operating in a slightly higher segment.
