The Seoul Mobility Show is set to begin, bringing with it exciting concept cars from Korea’s top automaker, Genesis. The images above showcase the Genesis X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible Concepts, which are essentially more production-ready iterations of the two-door X concepts we've been seeing since 2021.

Given the notably showroom-ready interiors, we would genuinely be surprised if these flagship grand-touring Genesis vehicles don’t enter production at some point. They feature buttons and knobs, with components taken directly from existing Genesis production models. While specific powertrain or engineering details haven’t been disclosed, we can identify a tachometer, a button to deactivate auto start-stop, and crystal shift paddles situated behind the steering wheel. Put simply, these vehicles are designed to consume gasoline.

The Genesis X Gran Concepts are derived from the full-size G90 sedan, and this heritage is evident in the rear seating area. Unlike many 2+2 configurations, the back passengers won’t feel neglected, as the rear quarters offer ample space, complete with screens and adjustable seating similar to a top-tier luxury sedan.

On the exterior, the Gran twins are even more stunning. They exude a low, wide, sleek presence. The Coupe, painted green, draws inspiration from Mediterranean olive trees—note the leaf-shaped lighting in the wooden door panels—while the maroon-on-blue Convertible is said to evoke the essence of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Livorno.

If and when the X Gran Coupe and Convertible Concepts transition into actual purchasable vehicles, they will likely be compared to other luxury grand tourers such as the BMW 8 Series, Bentley Continental GT, and Lexus LC. Indeed, there aren’t many of these produced anymore, primarily because they tend not to sell well and can be challenging to profit from. However, can you truly call yourself a legitimate luxury manufacturer if you don’t invest in a bold, extravagant project like this?

Make it happen, Genesis. Not for the profit, but for the passion of the craft.
