I have a strong affection for the Lexus LC 500, yet each time I take one for a spin, I internally and emotionally prepare myself for it to be the final drive—given the low sales numbers, the push towards electrification, and the current financial constraints many face, a $100,000, naturally aspirated V8 grand tourer from such a pragmatic automaker seems almost unrealistic. However, according to a recent report, fans of the LC might find solace in the news that not only is the car expected to stick around, but updates are also on the horizon.

As highlighted by Kirk Kreifels on YouTube, the Japanese automotive outlet Mag-X reports that the Lexus LC is set for a refresh next year, with production anticipated to kick off in April 2026.

Mag-X states that the two-door model will feature a new grille, updated wheels, and, as per online translation, the "LEXUS" badge on the rear will now appear in a "rose lettering" style—a likely mistranslation used by the magazine to describe the trend of displaying the full brand name across the vehicle's rear, similar to what Porsche does. Additionally, a new “fixed” rear wing is reportedly in the works, replacing the current retractable option available with the Dynamic Handling Package.

The same report also claims that the IS compact sedan will receive a refresh this year, not next, including a discontinuation of the 2.0-liter turbo-four rear-drive powertrain. Consequently, the base IS 300 will be retired, at least in Japan. It is suggested that the V8 IS 500 will now have an optional upgrade to Brembo brakes. A rendering from Mag-X depicts an IS with a new front design reminiscent of the Lexus LBX available only overseas, while the rear remains largely unchanged aside from the incorporation of the new "LEXUS" badge in the "rose-lettering" style across the trunk lid.
