The new buyback program provides a simpler escape for Fisker Ocean owners currently facing a difficult predicament.

Rivian, in collaboration with Chase Bank, has initiated a buyback initiative for Fisker Ocean owners.

Fisker owners have the option to sell their vehicle to Rivian or use it as part of a trade for a new electric vehicle.

Regrettably, the deal does not benefit those who have already sold their car.

Months have passed since Fisker ceased operations, leaving its customers in a lurch, but a ray of hope has emerged for those who were affected. Rivian, partnering with Chase Bank, is providing Fisker buyers a chance to escape their unfortunate situation. The proposition? Sell your Fisker to Rivian or Chase, and you’ll likely receive thousands more than if you attempted to sell it on the open market.

The law firm Hagens Berman is informing Fisker owners that they can now sell or trade in their vehicles. Rivian is also permitting owners to apply the sale of their Fisker as a down payment for one of their R1S or R1T models if they are considering an upgrade.

Fisker owners have three options: they can sell to Rivian, trade it in to Rivian, or sell to Chase if their car is not operational. According to the notification, the “fixed price will be an amount equal to the purchase price minus an amount for usage of the vehicle since… purchase.” This initiative appears to be a significant lifeline for Fisker buyers who may have paid nearly six figures for an early Ocean, only for Fisker to collapse rapidly.

Reports on social media indicate that Rivian and Chase are sending this offer via traditional mail to Fisker owners. In some instances, they are proposing over $36,000 for an SUV that will no longer receive any form of factory support.

It's clear why this marketing strategy is advantageous. Rivian is appealing to a group of buyers eager to escape the financial difficulties left by Fisker. At least Rivian has endured long enough to create a second-generation vehicle and appears to be in a healthier position as a company compared to Fisker.

Although this isn't the ideal resolution Fisker buyers were hoping for, it provides an exit for those wishing to distance themselves from an investment that is quickly losing value. Rivian is taking advantage of this situation by presenting a straightforward solution, making it significantly easier for disenchanted owners to begin anew.
