Police responded to reports of a speeding BMW, only to find the driver refusing to stop.

Although the pursuit was called off, authorities claim the driver continued to speed and ultimately caused a fatal accident.

As a result, two innocent drivers have lost their lives, and the unlicensed juvenile driver now faces potential prison time.

A tragic illustration of the deadly outcomes of speeding has emerged in Toms River, NJ, where police are trying to gather details following a reckless crash that resulted in two young fatalities. Officials state that the joyrider, an unlicensed minor, was livestreaming when the deadly incident occurred, adding an unsettling dimension to an already senseless act.

At 10:45 p.m., officers initially observed a speeding BMW (thought to be a 3-Series sedan, though this is not confirmed) and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver chose to flee instead of slowing down, prompting officers to abandon the chase for safety reasons. Data shows that most fleeing drivers tend to decelerate once police stop pursuing. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. Less than 15 minutes later, two innocent individuals would lose their lives.

Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer informed Patch that the BMW collided with a Toyota Camry carrying four passengers at the intersection of Route 37 and Route 166. While it remains unclear how fast the white BMW was traveling at the moment of impact, officers recorded the BMW reaching speeds of at least 118 mph (189 km/h) in a 35 mph zone.

The two front passengers of the Toyota, Evan Fiore, 23, and his girlfriend, Kiley Armstrong, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Kiley’s twin sister, Krista Armstrong, 21, and her boyfriend, Ryan Chapman, 19, are currently facing critical injuries at the hospital. Two occupants of the BMW also suffered injuries but were released after being treated. The driver of the BMW, an unlicensed minor, was unharmed in the accident.

Currently, the juvenile, whose identity remains undisclosed due to age privacy laws, is facing charges including aggravated manslaughter, four counts of aggravated assault causing bodily injury while eluding, two counts of death by auto, two counts of causing death while driving unlicensed, two counts of causing injury while driving unlicensed, two counts of aggravated assault indicating extreme indifference to human life, eluding police, and four counts of assault by auto.

It is unknown whether this accident is connected to the rising trend in the tri-state area known as 'swimming,' where drivers purposely provoke police into pursuits, weave through traffic, and sometimes crash during livestreams. Regardless of any connection to this trend, this incident serves as a sobering reminder for everyone to drive safely.
