The truck was showcased alongside two other electric vehicles (EVs), one of which seems to be Toyota's upcoming three-row SUV.

Toyota's teaser for an electric pickup indicates the introduction of a new model that is separate from the anticipated Hilux EV.

The double-cab design marks a shift from earlier single-cab electric prototypes.

There is speculation that it could be a production variant of the 2023 EPU Concept model.

Electric pickup trucks are increasingly prevalent as more environmentally conscious consumers seek to merge practicality and durability with zero emissions. Toyota is now teasing its own all-electric pickup, although this new model appears to be unrelated to the electric Hilux currently being developed for Thailand and Australia.

A teaser image showcasing the truck’s silhouette was revealed at a Toyota event in Belgium last night, where the company also introduced the new bZ4X, C-HR+, and the 2026 Lexus RZ. This mystery pickup was unveiled alongside two other forthcoming Toyota models, one of which is speculated to be the electric three-row SUV that has reportedly been delayed until 2026.

As noted by InsideEVs, the pickup teased features a double-cab design, in contrast to the single-cab electric Hilux previewed in Thailand around the same time last year. It also doesn't resemble the double-cab Hilux prototype that Toyota is currently testing with mining giant BHP in Australia.

One possibility is that the new electric pickup Toyota is developing could be a production-ready Tacoma EV, inspired by a concept introduced to the public in late 2021. However, since the Tacoma nameplate isn't used in Europe, it may indicate a production model based on the EPU Concept from 2023, a compact electric pickup that is expected to launch in 2027 in key markets such as South America.

Since the specifics of the new electric truck from Toyota remain unknown, technical details are still a mystery. It is likely based on one of the brand’s existing platforms and could possibly feature the improved electric motors found in the updated bZ4X and the new C-HR+.

Discussing the three unidentified future models, Toyota Motor Europe president and CEO Yoshihiro Nakata stated, “these three parts [of the EV strategy] will focus on enhancing the customer’s lifestyle just as powerfully as they enhance our carbon neutrality goals.”
