      As regular readers are aware, I attribute my current position to an early passion for RC cars. I have always been a car enthusiast, but constructing, repairing, and operating radio-controlled cars deepened my understanding of how vehicles work.       If racing isn’t your interest and you’d like to explore RC drifting, the MST RMX RTR Drift Car with E92 Body priced at $349.99 is an excellent starter option. The car features extensive tunability, allowing adjustments to weight distribution, ride height, camber gain, and roll-center height without needing to purchase tuning parts. It serves as a practical physics lesson. MST provides this model with various body options, including Lamborghinis, Supras, and E30s, with the E92 currently discounted by $50.

      Traxxas is arguably the leading brand in the RC car industry today; I own four or five myself. For those seeking a fully equipped stadium truck, the Traxxas Slash 4×4 “Ultimate” VXL is available for $399.95. My son has a brushed, 2WD version of the Slash with a few modifications, and it performs excellently. This model is 4WD and brushless, with numerous upgrades included right out of the box. These cars are fast, durable, and designed for serious driving. All you need to start is a battery and charger. A word of caution: these can exceed 60mph with a 3S battery, which could cause damage to nearby vehicles, ankles, or pets, so be cautious with children around them.

      I recently experimented with RC crawling on a smaller scale using a Traxxas TRX-4M, which I reviewed in December. While that model isn’t on sale, the larger Traxxas TRX-4 Sport High Trail Edition is available for $299.95. Like the Slash mentioned earlier, it has several enhancements compared to the standard version and appears highly realistic. For a smaller option, the FMS 1/12 Land Rover Series 2 is a great deal at $149.99.
