CarMax Customer Drives Subaru Into Showroom Following (Seemingly Unsatisfactory) Appraisal Offer

      I can hardly believe that, for the second time in just three months, a silver Subaru has been violently driven straight into the offices of a car dealership. Back in December, we reported on a man who smashed through the showroom glass of a Utah dealership after being denied a return of the silver Outback he had purchased. Over the weekend, a strangely similar event occurred at a CarMax in Southern California. Once again, a silver Outback was filmed crashing into the showroom. Though the vehicle and circumstances are different, it still feels odd, doesn’t it?

      The latest incident happened on the afternoon of March 8 at a CarMax location in Inglewood, California. CarMax informed KTLA that a customer was getting his vehicle appraised. According to ABC, “Witnesses reported that the customer apparently didn’t like the offer, lost his temper, and got back into his parked car. After a few attempts, he drove through the entrance.”

      Reports indicate that eight individuals were injured, two of them critically, and as shown in the news footage, it was quite an intense scene. The car didn’t just humorously crash in and stop like the Kool-Aid Man; it was seen smashing through the door and careening around inside the office before exiting from the other side of the room. It appears the driver tried to ram the car forward a few times before reversing and using the back of the vehicle as a battering ram.

      The enraged driver has not yet been publicly identified, at least not in sources available at the time of this writing, but they are reported to have been “quickly detained and arrested” and are currently in custody of the Inglewood Police Department.

      CarMax released the following statement:

      “Statement regarding the incident at Inglewood, California CarMax Store: This afternoon, a customer drove through our Inglewood, California store, injuring several employees and customers who are currently receiving medical care.”

      I won’t speculate on what might have been going through this person’s mind when they decided to turn their vehicle into a weapon against innocent bystanders. However, their exceedingly dangerous outburst definitely did not lead to a better appraisal for the now-damaged car.
