The return of Ram to the NASCAR Truck Series in 2026 appears highly probable.
Although the current season is underway, Ram seems to be preparing to re-enter the NASCAR Truck Series as early as next year.
Last month, Catchfence reported that an automaker has officially initiated the process to participate in the truck racing series next season. While NASCAR only confirmed the nature of the news, it is reasonable to deduce that the automaker in question is Ram.
The NASCAR Truck Series currently features modified full-size trucks from Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota. A GMC entry would only dilute GM's motorsport efforts, and other trucks on the market are either midsize (like the Jeep Gladiator) or not body-on-frame (such as the Honda Ridgeline). As for Nissan, the manufacturer seems to have other priorities than investing in truck racing.
An email from a dealer shared with Sportsnaut confirms that Ram is indeed the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) being referenced. The email included a summary of discussions from a Stellantis “go to market” dealer meeting, highlighting points such as reduced prices for Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, the comeback of the Ram TRX, and the fact that the Dodge Durango is in its “last year.” Notably, one of the bullet points mentioned was “back to NASCAR Truck Series.”
Ram had previously withdrawn its official factory support from the truck series following the 2013 season. The reasons behind its potential return remain unclear. We reached out to the automaker for comment, but Ram chose not to respond. Perhaps more details will emerge with an official announcement.
The Catchfence article also indicated that Dodge is considering a return to the NASCAR Cup Series, potentially in 2028. Dodge was involved in NASCAR’s premier series from 1999 until 2012 when its leading team, Penske Racing (now Team Penske), switched to Ford after that season. Without a suitable new partner, Dodge decided to exit. However, the dealer email did not mention any plans for a Dodge NASCAR comeback. This could be a topic for next year's racing news.
