The stretched S80 is thought to be one of the 16 units manufactured by the Swedish company Nilsson for executive transportation.

      The Volvo Nilsson 300 is a scarce, long-wheelbase variant of the S80 featuring a 4.4L V8 engine.

Only 16 units have been produced, and this one is the second in the series.

This unique model has a mere 35,000 miles, which reflects its remarkable condition.

If you have an affinity for European sedans, you might recall the Volvo S80. But what if we told you that there's an S80 variant so rare that you would need insider knowledge to find one? Introducing the Volvo S80 Nilsson 300, a vehicle so exclusive you might need a monocle to admire it. Now, one such unit is available for purchase in Sweden.

Don't mistake the Nilsson 300 for the long-wheelbase Volvo S80L sold in China, as the S80L was not an officially sanctioned Volvo model. The Nilsson 300, however, was produced by Nilsson Special Vehicles, a Swedish firm more familiar with manufacturing ambulances, emergency vehicles, hearses, and limousines than typical sedans.

According to Bilweb Auctions, only 16 of these vehicles were ever created, and this specific one is number 2 in the series. Thankfully, it features the largest engine option: a 4.4-liter V8 engine, produced in Japan by Yamaha to Volvo’s specifications. This engine delivers 311 horsepower (232 kW / 315 PS) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque, and naturally, it comes with all-wheel drive as standard.

The wheelbase of this particular Nilsson 300 has been extended by 15 cm (5.9 inches), although we have seen even longer variants in pictures. Regardless, the Swedish limousine distinctively differentiates itself from a standard S80, especially due to the partition between the front and rear compartments.

Inside, rear passengers enjoy ample legroom—the main purpose of this conversion. But it doesn’t end there. They also benefit from luxury amenities such as dual displays mounted on the front headrests, plush floor mats, heated seats, wireless headphones, power outlets, and cupholders. It resembles a mobile living room, minus the awkward family gatherings.

This rare S80 records just 55,809 km (34,678 miles) and seems to be in excellent condition. Its previous owner was reportedly a Swedish company that utilized the extended sedan for transporting employees from the airport to their conference center outside Stockholm.

The Nilsson 300 is projected to sell for between 340,000 and 380,000 Swedish Krona ($35,700 – $36,100). For reference, used standard S80s in Sweden can be found for as little as $5,200, though this depends greatly on their condition and the amount of wear from daily driving.

The second generation of the Volvo S80 was manufactured from 2006 to 2016 before it was succeeded by the S90. Nilsson also modified the S90, extending it into a limousine. Soon, Volvo will introduce the all-electric ES90, along with a facelifted S90 powered by an internal combustion engine. It will be intriguing to see if Nilsson applies its craftsmanship to these newer models, creating more exclusive and extravagant limousines.
