2026 Honda Accord Facelift Unveiled in China | Carscoops

The modified Honda Accord showcases updated headlights, a new grille, and an enhanced front bumper.

Honda will offer the latest Accord in China with both a 1.5-liter and a 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid option.

The most significant alterations include a revamped front grille and a unique front bumper.

Similar to the global Accord, the interior features a large infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster.

Only a short time has passed since Honda introduced the 11th-generation Accord in China, yet the company has swiftly made changes to the sedan's appearance. The refreshed 2026 model is now on sale, featuring some minor but noticeable enhancements that impart a slightly more aggressive demeanor, while fundamentally remaining the same sedan available in international markets.

      A New Aesthetic

The Accord for the Chinese market, produced in partnership with local manufacturer GAC, has only seen updates to its front design, which suffice to make it appear less ordinary and somewhat more striking. The modifications are not drastic; the internal headlight components have been subtly adjusted, preserving their overall shape. The LED daytime running lights (DRLs) now extend closer to the edges of the grille, and thankfully, the distracting orange reflectors have been removed.

A redesigned grille has also been introduced, maintaining the same basic shape and size as the previous version. This new grille consists of 19 silver horizontal slats, which is both oddly specific and quite accurate.

A sportier front bumper has been added to the Accord. In comparison to the global model, this one features more intricate angles, imparting additional character to the front end. No significant modifications have been made to the rear of the Honda, meaning it continues to feature the same familiar taillights, complete with an LED light bar.

      Familiar Interior and Powertrains

Inside, the design remains consistent. A small circular screen or rotary dial is situated beneath the air vents, while a large 15-inch infotainment display and a digital instrument panel stand out.

Regarding powertrains, reports from Chinese media indicate that the two engines from the prior model will be retained. The options include a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine delivering 189 hp (141 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm), alongside a 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid producing 181 hp (135 kW) and 247 lb-ft (335 Nm), with a commendable 66 miles (106 km) of all-electric range.

      What About the Global Accord?

There is currently no information regarding whether these updates will be applied to the global Accord or if they are exclusive to the Chinese market. Honda has not commented on this matter, but considering the relatively minor changes, it's unlikely that a significant redesign is forthcoming.

      Accord or Inspire?

It’s worth noting that in China, the Accord competes in the mid-size sedan market alongside the Inspire, which is essentially the same vehicle, albeit with different front and rear styling. The Inspire is produced by Honda's other manufacturing partner, Dongfeng, and is available in both conventional and plug-in hybrid versions. So, if the Accord isn't quite to your taste in China, there is always an alternative option.
