RTFM: Cybertruck Struggles Significantly With Performing Donuts During Street Takeover | Carscoops
This Tesla owner needs to explore the EV's various off-road modes if they wish to captivate the audience.
The driver of this Cybertruck performed some lackluster circles while attempting to lose traction.
Interestingly, Tesla provides owners with official guidance on executing donuts.
To spin the rear wheels, the vehicle must be set to Baja mode with power directed to the rear.
Street takeovers in the US typically feature powerful domestic muscle cars, such as the Dodge Charger, Ford Mustang, and Chevy Corvette. However, during a recent takeover, a Tesla Cybertruck made an appearance and attempted to do donuts in the center of a large intersection, with less than favorable results.
It remains ambiguous whether this Cybertruck is the basic All-Wheel Drive version or the advanced Cyberbeast, but it does have AWD and a sophisticated traction control system designed to reduce traction loss. While this is beneficial on slippery surfaces, it doesn’t aid in impressing the crowd at a takeover.
In a clip shared on social media, the driver of the white Cybertruck can be seen impatiently going in circles in the intersection, eager to kick out the back end of the electric vehicle. Despite the wet road conditions, the Tesla’s tires refuse to lose traction, resulting in a dull performance. Meanwhile, revving sounds from other cars in the background suggest many are capable of easily producing tire smoke and spinning on the spot.
Although this Cybertruck driver was unsuccessful in performing donuts, the vehicle can actually do them—you just need to know the proper mode to activate. Tesla has even provided an off-road guide that outlines the ideal settings for performing donuts.
According to the automaker, to achieve this, the Cybertruck should be set to Baja mode, have power shifted to the rear wheels, stability control minimized, and the Terrain slider adjusted to ‘Smooth.’ With these settings, the vehicle will eagerly spin the wheels and generate plumes of thick tire smoke.
It's fortunate the driver didn’t know how to properly kick out the Cybertruck's tail, as doing so could have led to a loss of control and a potential collision with the spectators gathered in the intersection.
