A man from Michigan has reported that car thieves redirected the delivery of his convertible Rolls Royce.

The $300,000 Dawn model was meant to be shipped from Florida, but it has gone missing.

Scammers are altering destination addresses with transport companies to steal cars.

When purchasing a unique vehicle in the vast expanse of the US, it's likely you'll need to have it transported from hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away. However, car thieves are increasingly taking advantage of this transport period to steal luxury vehicles.

Nader Eldamouni, a Michigan resident, claims to be the latest victim of this scheme. He and his business partner arranged to buy a $300,000 Rolls Royce Dawn convertible, but the grey and orange vehicle was located in South Florida, necessitating a 1,300-mile (2,090 km) journey to his home near Detroit. He initially thought this wouldn't be an issue as high-end cars are regularly transported across the country.

Unfortunately, the Rolls Royce never arrived. Eldamouni, who already owns a Lamborghini, a Rolls Royce Phantom, and a Mercedes G-Class, informed WSVN 7News Miami that he suspects thieves took the car after it was picked up for transport on January 17.

Eldamouni reached out to 7News after viewing a report about a similar incident involving a Ferrari that was supposed to be transported from New York to Houston but ended up in Miami.

Last summer, it was reported that a criminal in Florida compromised the delivery system of Dealer’s Choice Auto Transport, allowing him to access delivery schedules and driver contact details. Notably, he was able to alter destination addresses for several luxury vehicles, including a 2024 Mercedes GLS600 Maybach valued at about $200,000 and a $400,000 Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV.

“The criminal hacked into the driver’s portal and was aware of what vehicles were in transit and their status,” Steven Yariv, the transport company's CEO, remarked to WSVN at the time.

“The thief managed to contact the driver posing as the recipient, providing all the correct information and directing where the car should go.”
