Dealer's Latest VW ID. Buzz Auction on BaT Faces Challenges With Only 5 Bids to Date | Carscoops
This unregistered van has only 162 miles on the odometer and might sell for less than its MSRP.
A dealership in Indiana is auctioning a new Volkswagen ID. Buzz on Bring a Trailer.
The van features upgraded wheels, has only 162 miles recorded, and has never been registered before.
The auction will provide valuable insight into how much buyers are willing to pay for the new van.
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz stands out as quite unique, carving out its own niche in the U.S. market. However, despite its nostalgic appeal, our experience driving it led us to conclude two significant points: it is overpriced and lacks adequate range. Consequently, one dealer in Indiana has opted to auction it off instead of selling it directly from their lot, allowing potential buyers to see how much the market values these retro electric vehicles.
This modern VW Bus boasts some of the best design in the industry and surprisingly good speed. However, its price tag of around $70,000 makes it a hard sell. This perspective is shared by many of the 100+ comments on the Bring a Trailer auction page for this van.
Originally delivered to Vorderman Volkswagen in Fort Wayne, the current seller is Best Deal Auto Sales in the same region. A spokesperson from Vorderman mentioned, “We were hoping they’d keep it and enjoy it longer as we know they are big VW fans, but it’s fine. We hope this listing leads to some positive attention for the Buzz.” Unfortunately for VW, it seems they aren’t getting the favorable coverage they hoped for.
Firstly, it's somewhat unusual to find a 2025 model for sale on this platform. Secondly, instances where such new vehicles do appear are typically due to rarity or a strong following willing to invest. However, the ID. Buzz currently has only five bids, with just over a day left before the auction closes. As of now, the highest bid stands at $50,000.
It’s important to note that this is a 1st Edition trim with all-wheel drive, 20-inch wheels, and faux leather interiors. Auction photographs indicate that this specific van had an MSRP of $72,900. While a few dealerships across the country still mark up their ID. Buzz models, many others are offering them at or below MSRP.
If this vehicle ends up selling anywhere near the current $50,000 bid, it could serve as an excellent daily driver, despite its disappointing 234-mile range.
