The upcoming model will offer Alpine buyers a more spacious and practical choice compared to the A110 EV.
The new model could act as an electric alternative to the Porsche 911.
The Alpine A310 will be built on the Alpine Performance Platform.
Similar to the A390 crossover, this EV will feature three electric motors.
Alpine is developing a range of electric vehicles, including a fully electric successor to the A110 sports car and the production version of the A390 crossover concept. Additionally, a new 2+2 tourer, rumored to be named A310, is planned for launch in 2028.
The A310 will be positioned in size between the A110 and the A390. It will be based on the new Alpine Performance Platform, which will also support the upcoming A110 EV. The A310 is intended to be a larger and more practical sports car, akin to how the Porsche 911 provides greater practicality than the smaller 718 Cayman.
As with the A390, the new Alpine A310 will utilize three electric motors. This configuration includes one motor at the front axle and two at the rear. The specifics regarding horsepower and torque are yet to be confirmed. The forthcoming Alpine model is also expected to incorporate a sophisticated torque vectoring system to ensure it performs and drives like a genuine sports car.
In a conversation with Autocar, Alpine marketing director Bruce Pillard emphasized that “adding two more seats in a car will make a huge difference” compared to the limited market appeal and volume of the two-seat A110. He further described the new model as a “true Alpine,” poised to become “an icon of future sports cars.”
As spy photographers have not yet captured the new A310 during testing, there are few details available about its design. It might feature a front end similar to the A390, including an LED light bar at the front, and could potentially come with wheels that light up when the torque vectoring system activates, which would add visual flair in lieu of a traditional exhilarating exhaust note.
Other electric models from Alpine are also in development, including larger vehicles that the brand aims to introduce to penetrate the US market.
