Authorities in Georgia and North Carolina are on high alert due to a police impersonator.
The individual is driving a black Dodge Charger equipped with tinted windows and a single emergency light.
Drivers are advised to contact 911 if they suspect that they are being pulled over by a fake officer.
Experiencing a traffic stop is never pleasant, but the situation in the South has taken a concerning turn as various law enforcement agencies in Georgia and North Carolina warn about a police impersonator. The incidents seem to be linked and involve a black Dodge Charger.
Last month, the Towns County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia took to social media to inform residents that they do not operate Charger patrol cars. They stated that an "unknown individual has been reported in multiple surrounding counties pulling over vehicles and approaching individuals while pretending to be a law enforcement officer."

While there isn't much detail about the vehicle, it is described as a black Charger with tinted windows and a single emergency light. The model reportedly also has a “tinted tag cover” that obscures the license plate.
It remains unclear why this individual is posing as an officer, but he is described as “small in stature with brown hair.” He has been seen wearing a gray and dark blue uniform, along with a vest that holds a radio and handcuffs.
The Towns County Sheriff’s Office stated that they view these reports as a “personal attack” against the law enforcement community and the safety of the public. They urged drivers to contact 911 if they are stopped by someone they find suspicious.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina issued a similar warning after a driver was reportedly stopped on “US19 just south of NC141.” This was echoed by the Hiawassee Police Department, which also clarified that they do not utilize Dodge Chargers.
