Dealers Initially Sought $400K For A Demon 170, But Now Some Are Willing To Accept Below $150K | Carscoops

If you waited when the Demon 170s first arrived at dealerships, you now have the opportunity to acquire one with only a few hundred miles, knowing you’ve saved tens of thousands.

Prices for the Dodge Challenger Demon 170 have become much more reasonable recently.

These high-horsepower vehicles are commonly selling for under $150,000.

While that price is still higher than the original asking price from the manufacturer, it is a significant decrease from what was charged by many dealers at launch.

When the Dodge Demon 170 debuted at dealerships, the absurdity of its 1,025-horsepower output was matched only by the outrageous markups imposed by several dealers. Many sought up to nearly $400,000 for one. Fast forward to now, and the market has adjusted. These vehicles now frequently exchange hands for $150,000 or even less.

These transactions aren’t limited to private sales. For instance, a dealer in Illinois has a Demon 170 with just 161 miles listed for $149,995. While this is about $25,000 above the original MSRP, it is still $100,000 less than what many dealers were asking when the Demon 170 was launched.

In Florida, another dealer is asking $149,900 for a Demon 170 with only 268 miles on the odometer. Notably, those willing to search can uncover even better deals on platforms like Facebook groups or forums. For example, Kramer DCJR has a Demon 170 available for $145,000 with 818 miles, and a savvy buyer can find a salesperson there offering the same car for $137,000 with some online research.

Auction websites also present opportunities for savings. The most recent Demon 170 auctioned on Bring A Trailer did not meet its reserve at $151,000. The last one sold for $123,222, while another transaction before that went for $131,000, boasting just 947 miles, so it wasn't in poor condition.

As you read this, a black Demon 170 with nearly delivery mileage (only 16 miles) is currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer. With two days left, the current bid stands at $123,000. It will be interesting to see the final selling price next week. Prospective buyers can take solace in the fact that they have saved tens of thousands simply by allowing the vehicle's depreciation to occur.
