      Mercedes-Benz will continue to provide the S-Class with various engine options throughout the lineup. The S 63 E Performance and Maybach models will remain as the top-tier variants. The revised S-Class comes with new designs for the headlights and taillights, giving it a refreshed look.

      Recently, it was reported that Mercedes-Benz would postpone the launch of the facelifted S-Class, now expected in late this year or possibly the first half of 2026. While this may be somewhat disheartening for affluent customers, it allows the German automaker additional time to enhance its flagship luxury sedan. Given the esteemed reputation of the S-Class, this extra period will likely be utilized productively.

      As the upcoming S-Class will be a facelift rather than an entirely new model, it will retain the same platform and is expected to have mostly the same powertrain options. Most significant changes will be aesthetic, and the renderings provide a solid idea of its potential appearance.

      A New Look Without Major Overhauls

      Recent prototypes of the S-Class have been seen featuring revamped headlights that incorporate Mercedes' new signature three-pointed star daytime running lights. These elements, initially showcased on the 2023 CLA Concept, are expected to appear on other Mercedes models as well. The renderings by artist Kelsonik for Auto Mail display these updated headlights alongside a larger grille observed on test vehicles.

      The new headlights will be paired with a redesigned front bumper that appears more athletic and resembles the design of the dominant S63, complete with new air intakes. However, significant changes along the sides of the S-Class are not anticipated, as changing body panels like quarter panels and door skins can be expensive, even for a luxury brand like Mercedes.

      Several modifications will be made to the rear, with a focus on the lighting. Recent prototypes have shown revamped taillights featuring new LED designs, enhancing the modern appearance of the S-Class.

      Interior enhancements are also expected, including a redesigned dashboard that will feature a Hyperscreen display akin to that found in the all-electric EQS. While Mercedes has not yet confirmed specific software updates, the system will include all the latest improvements to MBUX.

      Sources indicate that most powertrains from the current model will carry over, potentially including a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six generating 442 hp and 413 lb-ft (559 Nm) of torque, along with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 496 hp. The flagship S63 E Performance is also slated to receive the same facelift as the rest of the range and is expected to maintain its impressive output of 791 hp and 1,055 lb-ft of torque.

      Additionally, the ultra-luxurious Maybach variant will receive similar updates, featuring revised front and rear styling, a three-pointed star lighting motif, and an enhanced interior. It is anticipated to debut alongside the refreshed standard S-Class.
