Ford Reduced Parts Prices for Older Vehicles, but Excluded American Drivers | Carscoops
Ford is reducing prices on parts for older vehicles in Europe.
The discounts apply to items such as bumpers, doors, lights, and crash repairs.
The aim of these cheaper parts is to prolong the lifespan of older cars.
These days, the automotive industry frequently emphasizes sustainability, focusing on plant-based plastics and recycled interiors. However, arguably the most environmentally friendly choice is not to purchase a new car, but to extend the life of your existing one, and Ford's recent announcement could facilitate that.
If you’ve been gently maintaining an older Fiesta, Focus, Kuga, C-Max, Ranger, or Mondeo, Ford has some surprisingly positive news. They are reducing prices on certain genuine parts by as much as 25 percent, significantly lowering the costs for repairs, maintenance, and the overall preservation of your loyal vehicle.

Over 6,000 Original Equipment parts are being discounted, encompassing 35 different models manufactured up to 2019. This includes a wide range of components from bumpers and body panels to headlights, grilles, and door skins—all of which are commonly damaged in low-speed accidents.
Millions of Older Vehicles
Ford claims this initiative aims to assist the millions of customers still driving older cars across Europe. The company notes that approximately 1.2 million Fiestas produced between 2008 and 2017 remain on the road today. That's a substantial number of vehicles whose owners may be contemplating whether repairing is worth it or if it’s time to retire the car.
By lowering the cost of genuine parts, Ford hopes to encourage more owners to choose repair over replacement. This benefits the owners by saving them money, supports independent garages by allowing them to offer competitive quotes, and aids Ford in maintaining the appearance and safety of its older fleet.

Ford also emphasizes that using genuine parts helps maintain vehicle value, enhances the quality of crash repairs, and lowers the chances of poor panel fit or paint mismatches often associated with cheaper alternatives.
More Affordable and Sustainable
There’s also the sustainability aspect mentioned earlier. Keeping a vehicle operational for a longer period is generally better for the environment than prematurely scrapping it and manufacturing a new one. However, an even more sustainable and likely less expensive option than purchasing new parts for an older car is acquiring high-quality genuine used parts from another wrecked Ford that is no longer roadworthy.
