Corvette enthusiasts might be in for an exciting development. The well-loved Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport nameplate is anticipated to make a comeback for the 2027 model year, and new information regarding its engine is emerging thanks to a recent leak.
Rather than modifying the Stingray’s 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 or scaling back the Z06’s 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank engine, GM appears to be preparing to introduce a completely new engine for the Grand Sport, likely called the LS6 V8.

Details about this engine have been scarce until now, with speculation about it being available in both 5.5-liter and 6.6-liter versions. However, a leak from the GM Parts Book utilized by technicians for vehicle diagnostics indicates that the LS6 might be even more thrilling than anticipated.
A Significant Upgrade for the Grand Sport
The leak, initially reported by Corvette Blogger, contains a listing for the new engine indicating it will have a displacement of 6.7 liters, or 409 cubic inches. It will sport an aluminum block and include both direct and port fuel injection. Notably, this same GM Parts Book was previously used in 2023 to reveal the upcoming 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 for the C8 ZR1.
Earlier this month, Corvette insider and salesperson Rick Conti shared a video on YouTube that allegedly showcased the exhaust sound of the new Corvette Grand Sport. Unfortunately, the video was removed after a few days, but it suggested that the new LS6 would emit a rich, classic V8 sound, which is sure to excite enthusiasts.
Power and Pricing
The exact power output of the new 6.7-liter engine in the Grand Sport remains unknown, but there is considerable performance potential between the entry-level Stingray and the hybrid E-Ray within the C8 lineup.
The Stingray outputs 495 hp with the performance exhaust, while the E-Ray produces 655 hp and the Z06 is rated at 670 hp. If Chevy positions the Grand Sport to deliver between 550 hp and 600 hp, it could be a strong contender.
Pricing strategies may also play a key role. The Stingray starts at $70,000, while the E-Ray begins at $108,600. If Chevrolet sets the Grand Sport’s price between $85,000 and $100,000, it could occupy an attractive segment that balances performance and value, appealing to a broad range of buyers. If this is the case, it might emerge as the top-selling model in the C8 range.
