This miniature version of Kimera allows enthusiasts to get close to the real deal at a lower price point. It is available in red or yellow with carbon-finished aerodynamic elements and is limited to 150 pieces, priced at a flat $350.
Kimera Automobili has cultivated a loyal fan base with its restomods inspired by the iconic Lancia 037. However, the downside is that these limited-production vehicles, equipped with rally-grade components, carry a hefty price tag—usually exceeding half a million dollars.
For those who appreciate the aesthetics but are deterred by the cost, there’s an affordable option perfect for display. The 1:18 scale model is an accurate replica of the Kimera EVO38, which debuted last year and is produced from resin by Tecnomodel.
Buyers can select from two finishes: a stunning metallic red or a unique goldish yellow that mirrors the original vehicle's livery.
Both color variations feature exposed carbon fiber details, including the splitter, grille, bumper intakes, side blades, mirror caps, skirts, and rear diffuser, enhancing the model's dynamic appearance.
The scale model is mounted on rally-style alloy wheels fitted with miniature Pirelli P Zero tires, complete with the red detailing found on the larger version.
Unlike die-cast models, resin replicas do not usually have opening panels, allowing for more intricate details. This is evident in the interior, which showcases classic-style gauges, bucket seats, and a transparent cover revealing the mid-mounted engine.
In its full-scale version, the EVO38 boasts a turbocharged 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine producing 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS), mated to a six-speed manual transmission and a motorsport-inspired all-wheel-drive system. It is equipped with an electro-hydraulic differential lock, enhancing its performance focus.
Limited Availability, Just Like the Original
Staying true to Kimera’s ethos, the model's production is limited. While the full-size EVO38 is restricted to 38 units, all of which are already sold, the scale model will have a limited run of 150 units.
According to the listing on Store Motorsport Italia’s website, the 1:18 Kimera model is priced at €300, equivalent to approximately $350 at the current exchange rate. While this price is higher than typical resin models, it remains much lower than premium die-cast models from brands like Amalgam.
An online video provides a closer look at the Kimera scale model, emphasizing its intricate details. The same retailer also featured a 1983 Lancia 037 model alongside a Fiat 242 van and a complementary trailer, all from Ottomobile. This set is available for €254 ($300) and presents a compelling option for a desktop diorama or the start of a compact dream garage.
