Vince Zampella was driving a 296 GTS when he lost control while exiting a tunnel on California's Angeles Crest Highway.

A tragic event unfolded as the renowned creator of Call of Duty died in a serious single-car accident recorded on video.

The footage shared on social media shows a red Ferrari 296 GTS, allegedly driven by Vince Zampella, speeding out of a tunnel on the Angeles Crest Highway in California before crashing into a concrete wall alongside the road.

Zampella was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger survived the initial impact but later succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, according to NBC4.

Angeles Crest attracts car enthusiasts due to its beautiful scenery and high-speed potential, but it can be unforgiving in difficult situations. Locals familiar with the route note that the tunnel involved in the crash is favored by drivers and motorcyclists for its dramatic amplification of exhaust sounds, which encourages pushing the throttle to the limit.

However, those who are well-acquainted with the road indicate that the left turn immediately following the tunnel is sharper than it appears, and its true angle reveals itself too late. In the video shared online, the sound of the Ferrari's tires can be heard screeching even before it emerges into the light, likely signifying Zampella's sudden realization of the impending danger.

With 819 hp (830 PS) powering only the rear wheels, the 296 GTS is a vehicle that can easily lead to excessive enthusiasm while driving.

Warning: The following video contains graphic content that may disturb some viewers.

The footage depicts bystanders pulling one body away from the wreckage, apparently still seated, while flames are seen emanating from the Ferrari. Reports indicate that the passenger was ejected, but the 55-year-old Zampella was trapped inside the burning vehicle.

Zampella is best known for his significant contributions to the immensely popular Call of Duty franchise, which launched in 2003, but he also played a role in several other prominent gaming titles, including Titanfall, Apex Legends, the Star Wars Jedi series, and Battlefield.
