Buick's Envision, Manufactured in China, Endures Trump's Tariffs with a Significant Price Increase | Carscoops
The compact crossover from Buick now comes with a surprisingly high price tag of $41,000.
The 2026 Buick Envision has seen a significant price increase of up to $4,500.
Although Buick has not commented on the crossover, the rise in price is likely attributed to tariffs.
The Envision is manufactured in China, similar to the Lincoln Nautilus.
While we've often poked fun at Chrysler, that brand is currently more active than Buick. Their US marketing team hasn't released any press statements this year, and the last update was regarding the redesigned Enclave, which launched in April 2024.
Raising the price by $3,000 for the 2026 Envision isn't a smart strategy either. The new price is now $41,000, excluding the $1,895 destination charge, which is an increase from the previous $38,000 and up from the earlier $36,500. This results in a total price hike of $4,500 in under a year.
What's new? Not much, it appears, but it's hard to know for sure since Buick has been silent for almost two years. Ignoring that point, the base model includes LED lighting, silver roof rails, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin features a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 30-inch display with built-in Google. Other interior highlights include perforated leatherette seating, a wireless smartphone charger, and an ambient lighting system. It also comes with an auto-dimming rearview mirror and automatic climate control.
In terms of safety, the model is equipped with numerous standard driver assistance features, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Alert, and Automatic Emergency Braking. It also includes Blind Zone Steering Assist, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Traffic Sign Recognition, among various others.
All trims are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 228 hp (170 kW / 231 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
The reason for the significant price increase remains unclear, but it is likely related to the fact that the Envision is produced in China, which has exposed it to high tariffs instituted during the Trump administration. As a result, the model's future is uncertain, but for the time being, the solution seems to be price increases.
