Warranty Be Damned, New Corvette ZR1 Sold for $70,000 Profit | Carscoops
Equipped with a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 generating 1,064 hp, the ZR1 delivers performance comparable to hypercars.
A 2026 Corvette ZR1 with only five miles on the odometer sold for significantly more than its original price.
Although the car’s warranty was nullified, this didn’t prevent a significant profit from the auction.
The buyer could have spent less on the newer, more powerful ZR1X instead.
The 1,064 hp (1,079 PS) Chevrolet C8 Corvette ZR1 showcases an unprecedented level of performance for an American supercar, putting more costly European exotics on alert.
To prevent early sales from turning into quick-profit schemes, GM announced that it would void the warranty for any ZR1 resold within a year of purchase. Unsurprisingly, this policy did not deter one buyer from paying a significant premium for a car that had only five miles of delivery mileage.
This specific 2026 Corvette ZR1 stands out as one of the most impressive models available. In addition to the base MSRP of $191,400, it features the full $27,350 ZTK Performance Track Package, which includes a range of upgrades such as carbon ceramic brakes, performance suspension, and extreme aerodynamic enhancements like a large rear wing, front splitter, and canards.
While the Jet Black exterior is among the more subdued color options, the original owner added some flair with Edge Blue racing stripes and matching 20- and 21-inch forged wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires specifically designed for the ZR1.
Examining the interior, the ZR1 is outfitted with GT2 bucket seats in Jet Black Nappa leather with Santorini Blue stitching and seatbelts. There’s also extensive Alcantara trim and a 14-speaker Bose sound system.
As a 2026 model, this ZR1 features a 6.6-inch display positioned to the left of the central 14-inch digital cluster, creating a more streamlined cockpit design. It also eliminates the notorious “wall of buttons” that received mixed reactions on previous C8 Corvettes.
This model was listed for sale on Bring a Trailer at an original sticker price of $220,745. Even with the warranty voided, it sold for an astonishing $290,000, providing the original owner with nearly $70,000 in profit.
Spending $290,000 on a Corvette ZR1 represents a substantial investment, particularly given that the more powerful all-wheel-drive hybrid ZR1X can be purchased starting at $205,400, assuming you can find one at original MSRP.
