As 2025 approaches, Gran Turismo enthusiasts around the globe are eagerly anticipating the release of Gran Turismo 2: Beige Edition. This upcoming modification of the 1999 racing game will replace GT2’s impressive lineup of 600 cars with much less notable vehicles. While some cars from the original game will remain—since those familiar with GT2 know it already featured many unremarkable rides—numerous new additions are in the works. The team behind the project has recently shared a video showcasing the first 120 cars.
The video runs for 11 and a half minutes, and I watched it all the way through without skipping. If they produce a final video featuring the entire roster, it’s expected to be four times longer, and I’ll likely watch that as well. I have a fondness for vintage, easily overlooked cars depicted in an authentic low-poly style, and Beige Edition is filled with them.
These videos also provide interesting insights. For instance, I learned that there was a Bic-sponsored version of the Citroen Saxo—the pen company, that is. Additionally, Ford launched yellow “Millennium Edition” variants of the Focus, Ka, and Puma in Europe. Amid the American auto industry's initial, lackluster attempts to enter the electric vehicle market, I overlooked the Dodge Caravan EPIC (which stands for “Electric Power Interurban Commuter,” of course). And let’s not forget the Citroen Xsara West Coast—because what could better embody California's renowned car culture than a compact European family car that was never sold in the U.S.?
This video is filled with intriguing details, and I’m certain there are many more surprises hidden among the several hundred cars that are planned. No need to worry—being a Gran Turismo game, it still offers Skylines, Supras, and Mustangs. They may be the base models that few desire, but they're included!
