BMW is celebrating 50 years of the 3 Series with a limited 50 Jahre Edition for American customers, showcasing retro colors and updated interior features.

After initially launching this special edition for Canada, BMW has now announced that the US will also receive the model.

This edition pays tribute to half a century of the 3 Series and will be available in a single configuration, priced at $75,200, excluding a $1,175 destination and handling fee.

The car features a commemorative design with heritage-inspired color and trim packages.

      Five Celebration Themes

Enthusiasts wanting to drive the new M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition can select from five design packages, each celebrating a past generation of the 3 Series.

The first design package, honoring the original E21, is finished in Ruby Red Metallic with an Ivory interior and red brake calipers.

Next is the E30-inspired variant, coated in Boston Green Metallic with Tartufo upholstery and blue brake calipers. The third design, representing the E36, comes in Avus Blue Metallic with Tartufo interior and blue calipers.

The lineup continues with a Carbon Black Metallic E46 model featuring black upholstery and red calipers, while the E90 generation is represented by Sparkling Graphite Metallic mixed with Tartufo leather and red calipers.

No matter the chosen package, all 50 Jahre Edition models include black Shadowline trim on the kidney grilles and lower air intakes, along with BMW’s optional M Shadowline full LED headlights.

Additionally, BMW adds an M Performance carbon fiber lip spoiler and a special badge on the trunk lid. Visual enhancements include an M Performance exhaust system with Shadowline tailpipes and glossy 19-inch M wheels.

      Interior Upgrades

In line with its special-edition status, the interior is equipped with luxurious features. Notably, it includes extended Merino leather coordinated with the exterior color, a first for the U.S. version of the 3 Series.

Extended Merino leather refers to a more premium upholstery option that extends beyond the seats to cover areas like the door panels and armrests.

It's unclear whether it includes the lower section of the center console, but this provides a more cohesive and upscale cabin atmosphere. However, it's unfortunate that BMW opted not to extend the leather to the dashboard as well.

The cabin is further enhanced with additional carbon fiber trim and a Harman Kardon audio system, complemented by custom scuff plates and a new metal plaque on the cupholder cover.

      No Changes to Performance

No significant modifications have been made to the M340i’s powertrain aside from the inclusion of the M Performance exhaust. It still utilizes the well-known 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid support, generating 386 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque.

The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that distributes power to all four wheels, allowing for a 0–60 mph sprint in 4.1 seconds.

BMW has announced that orders are now open, and production is already in progress, with first customer deliveries expected in early 2026.
