      Excited for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto? So are we. I concluded my previous article by stating that we wouldn't see the release of GTA 6 until at least May of next year, and it turns out my caution was justified. The wait—already extended to a point that has become a source of endless memes—has been prolonged once more. This time, Rockstar Games has announced a new release date: November 19, 2026.

      I wish I could assure you that this release date is set in stone, but as we've learned, that approach leads to frustration. If there’s any positive aspect, it's that we are hearing this straight from the source:

      “We apologize for adding more time to what we know has been a long wait,” Rockstar stated on social media (also included below), “but these additional months will enable us to complete the game to the high standard of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

      Rockstar’s first trailer for GTA 6 was released almost two years ago, in December 2023. The second trailer (which I linked above) was released just six months ago—a full year ahead of the anticipated release. Oops.

      We’re not alone in our disappointment. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, faced a sharp decline in response to the announcement.
