The top contenders in the mid-size three-row segment likely didn't anticipate Kia emerging unexpectedly with the Telluride, but you can be sure the competition is now taking notice of the South Korean car manufacturer.
On Wednesday, the 2027 Kia Telluride was unveiled with two teaser images and the announcement that the next-generation SUV will debut on November 20 at the 2025 LA Auto Show. If the teaser images are any indication, the new Telluride will sport a boxy, sharp design that emphasizes its presence.
The front image reveals amber-colored LED daytime running lights, among other design features inspired by budget Range Rovers, which help the Telluride stand out on the road. The lighting elements are now slimmer, more defined, and taller compared to the current models. The front design and overall silhouette have a brick-like appearance reminiscent of Jeep's classic design.
The overhead image shows two sunroofs on what is expected to be the top trim, a contoured hood, and sculpted fenders. The squared-off rear end appears to carry over to the second-generation model, but we have yet to see the taillights.
The new Telluride is expected to share its platform and engines with the second-generation Hyundai Palisade. This will include a new 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 287 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive will be standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option.
A noteworthy update will be the introduction of a hybrid powertrain. This consists of a 2.5-liter turbo-four combined with two electric motors attached to the transmission, producing a total of 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive will be standard, and all-wheel drive will be optional. The hybrid’s driving range is expected to exceed 600 miles, with EPA ratings around 33 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined.
The 2026 Kia Telluride will be priced just under $40,000 and is anticipated to launch early next year.
