Kia is assisting electric vehicle buyers with gasoline-scented air fresheners.

The campaign, which has launched in Finland, offers an unusual accessory for EV4 purchasers.

This air freshener is designed to resemble motor oil and has the scent of a car repair shop.

Finland may not be known for its sense of humor, but Kia has introduced a comical campaign in the country to promote electric vehicles. The highlight of this campaign is a "gasoline-scented air freshener" that can be hung from a rearview mirror.

Announced via a social media post, the air freshener, shaped like a gas can, aims to help individuals "transition to a new era of driving."

Despite a poor translation on Facebook that mentioned electrocution, Kia actually stated, "Do you miss the scent of gasoline and the gas pump amidst electrification? We have a quick remedy for withdrawal symptoms."

They then marketed the air freshener as a solution and mentioned it will be offered to new EV4 buyers. Notably, this seems to be a real product as Kia indicated it's a "limited edition."

As per Tyyliniekka, the concept originated from Kia importer Astara Auto Finland, which collaborated with Max Perttula to create this peculiar scent. The result reportedly has a motor oil base, metallic notes, and hints of jasmine along with birch tar.

That combination doesn’t sound appealing for your vehicle, and Perttula described it as reminiscent of a car repair shop's aroma.

The air freshener is part of a broader campaign that uses humor to market electric vehicles. In another post, the company depicted two individuals outside, seemingly on a smoke break.

However, Kia stated, “Smoke signals are a thing of the past. Test drive the new all-electric Kia EV4 and experience the benefits of smoke-free driving in just a few minutes!”
