The GT500 seems to have collided with another object side-on at high speed.
Almost every part of the exterior was obliterated in the catastrophic crash.
The 5.2L supercharged V8 might be salvageable, though there's no certainty.
The previous-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is an impressive machine. However, in this instance, it has seen far better days and now resembles a mangled wreck after being split in half.
It’s unlikely to hit the road again, yet that hasn’t deterred an insurance company from putting it up for sale and, surprisingly, finding a buyer ready to take it on.
This damaged Mustang GT500 was recently sold by IAAI from its Nashville, Tennessee branch, and just looking at the photos can make any car enthusiast cringe. What was once a silver supercar killer is now a twisted heap of scrap metal, and probably only a few parts are worth salvaging.

While no specific details about the crash have been disclosed, it is clear that the GT500 collided with something at an extremely high speed, resulting in a split right through the passenger compartment.
Virtually nothing remains of the cabin, and the damage is so severe that part of the exhaust is now resting on the passenger seat. We would be amazed if anyone survived.
What’s Worth Saving?
Arguably the only valuable component that may be salvageable is the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that used to power this Shelby. The front end has suffered considerable damage but is still in better shape than the rear.
Some of the plastic connectors in the engine bay are destroyed, and at least one of the engine mounts appears to be damaged.
Nevertheless, there is a chance that the block itself, and possibly the supercharger, can be rescued. Other components that might be salvageable include the brakes, though there’s a strong likelihood that the discs are cracked, suggesting that only the calipers may hold any value.
Beyond that, some Shelby badges from the front and rear could be saved, but the rest of the Mustang’s journey ends here, destined for the scrap yard, where its once-grand roar will become a distant memory.
