A Florida police department has garnered attention with its new supercar, although it will not be utilized for pursuits.
The McLaren 720S has joined the Casselberry Police Department's fleet for community outreach and safety events.
This white supercar features official police markings and has flashing lights on the windshield.
Authorities have made it clear that this exotic car will not be used for high-speed pursuits or patrol activities.
Nothing embodies "community policing" quite like a high-end supercar with flashing lights. The Casselberry Police Department in Florida has acquired a new vehicle, which happens to be among the fastest supercars available.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately for some, the police in Florida will not be using it to chase down suspects, contrary to the actions of many other departments that incorporate sports cars or supercars into their fleets.
Instead, this white McLaren 720S will be designated for community engagement and public education events. Additionally, the department did not purchase the vehicle; it was donated by the McLaren Orlando dealership.
To make the 720S resemble a proper patrol car, it has been outfitted with the same livery found on the department's other patrol vehicles, which includes a prominent crest on the hood and sides, along with black and blue trim. It also features flashing lights visible behind the windshield.
Initially, some locals worried that the police had bought the car when videos of it circulated on TikTok, but as mentioned by Road&Track, that was not the case. Although we know McLaren Orlando donated the vehicle, it remains unclear if they also funded the wrapping and modifications.
The police stated they will use the exotic car to "promote safe driving and positive police community engagement," mentioning that it will be showcased at various upcoming events. However, locals should not expect to see it used for law enforcement activities.
Casselberry is not the only department adding luxury vehicles to its fleet. Earlier this year, the Florida Highway Patrol incorporated a 2023 C8 Corvette into its lineup.
Similar to the McLaren, this car was also not purchased; it had been seized by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and given to local troopers.
