The New Ram Hemi Street Truck: A Supercharged Insult to Off-Road Enthusiasts | Carscoops
The Ram 1500 Lowered combines the energy of a muscle car with the practicality of a pickup in a striking 650-hp supercharged package.
This truck results from a collaboration between Fox and Mopar Direct Connection, featuring a 5.7L Hemi V8 equipped with a Whipple twin-screw supercharger that produces 650 horsepower. Buyers can select between rear- or four-wheel drive for optimal traction on the road.
In recent years, high-performance off-road trucks have dominated the pickup market, yet many owners don't fully utilize their off-road capabilities as they are primarily designed for rugged environments. Conversely, street trucks, like the Ford F-150 Lobo, excel in almost any setting, which is where Ram's new 1500 Sport Truck comes into play. This vehicle, a partnership between Mopar and Fox Factory, is a 650 hp (485 kW) powerhouse designed for performance on asphalt.
Engineered for the Street with Hemi Power
News of an exciting product from these two brands emerged last week, but the final result is even more striking than anticipated. Built on the Ram 1500 Big Horn, the Fox Factory Ram 1500 Lowered incorporates Mopar Direct Connection's factory-supported tuning program while integrating aerodynamic features, gold accents, and a lowered stance.
Beneath the hood, the truck houses a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 paired with a twin-screw Whipple supercharger, generating 650 horsepower through either rear- or four-wheel drive. It features a 3.92 rear axle ratio and 305/40R22 tires for rapid acceleration.
Additionally, a cat-back exhaust system is tuned to ensure that every throttle response is an event, with an automatic transmission as the sole option.
While speed is a key focus, this truck also showcases impressive capability, boasting a maximum towing capacity of 11,320 pounds and a payload limit of 1,910 pounds. Plus, it maintains the practicality of a four-door, five-seat pickup. The suspension, designed in collaboration with Ridetech, lowers the front by 3 inches and the rear by 5.5 inches for a level appearance.
Tubular control arms, traction bars, and coilovers enhance steering precision and minimize wheel hop during hard launches.
Inside, upgraded stitching and Mopar Connection logos are present. Buyers can choose from a palette of exterior colors including black, silver, white, two shades of gray, or blue. Starting prices are set at $89,995, with options such as leather and four-wheel drive pushing costs close to $95,000.
Since it’s available through Mopar Direct Connection, it will be possible to order one from a participating Ram dealer for service as well.
Street trucks like this have been largely absent from automakers’ recent offerings, but the Fox Factory Ram 1500 demonstrates that there’s still plenty of vibrancy in the category. It’s fast, bold, and significantly more practical for daily driving than any TRX or Raptor could ever aspire to be.
