This concept reimagines the now-discontinued midsize sedan as an electric vehicle, revitalizing the classic nameplate.

Independent design work envisions the Legacy returning as an EV sedan.

Styling elements are inspired by Subaru's latest electric SUVs, such as the Solterra.

Currently, Subaru’s electric vehicle strategy offers little room for a midsize electric sedan.

After 35 years in the U.S. market, the Subaru Legacy has officially ceased production. Although no new generation is anticipated, an independent designer has envisioned the sedan transitioning into the electric age.

The conceptual 2027 Subaru Legacy comes from Digimods Design, who revealed the idea on his YouTube channel. At the front, the design features elements from Subaru's recent electric models, such as the new Uncharted, the updated Solterra, and the Trailsport/E-Outback. Its appearance is marked by slim LED headlights, a narrow grille, and a sharply defined bumper.

The profile retains the greenhouse and body lines from the outgoing seventh-generation Legacy, which was introduced in 2019 and facelifted in 2023. The designer has incorporated new alloy wheels and modern color options.

The back of the midsize sedan takes a traditional approach, featuring elongated LED taillights paired with a contemporary tailgate and a more streamlined bumper. The latter includes a split diffuser, indicating that this Subaru does not house a combustion engine.

The design concept does not provide interior renderings, but one could envision a high-tech digital cockpit akin to other Toyota-based Subaru EVs.

The current Legacy is built on the Subaru Global Platform, which is not designed for electric powertrains. However, in a more speculative scenario, this imagined EV could utilize the dual-motor system from the Uncharted crossover, delivering 338 hp (252 kW / 344 PS) along with Subaru's signature all-wheel drive.

As of now, Subaru has not indicated that a Legacy EV is in development. The company's electric strategy focuses on crossovers and SUVs co-developed with Toyota, limiting the opportunity for a sedan in their lineup.
