The New A6 from Audi Has a Higher Price, but Comes with Significant Benefits | Carscoops
The latest A6 is available in the US market solely with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine.
Due to its enhanced power, the 2026 A6 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 4.5 seconds.
The starting price for the new model is $64,100, which is $1,500 more than the previous version.
The redesigned vehicle also features a completely revamped interior featuring three screens.
Approximately five months after its debut in Europe, the new A6 has been announced for the US. Set to arrive at local dealerships in the fourth quarter, it prioritizes technology, offers greater power, and, as anticipated, comes with a higher price tag.
Similar to its predecessor, the 2026 Audi A6 is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine. However, the previous A6 generated a maximum of 335 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, while the new model boasts 362 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the quattro all-wheel drive system. Audi claims that the new A6 reaches 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds, which is an improvement of 0.6 seconds.
Interestingly, the earlier model also offered a 261 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder option, but this variant has been removed from the lineup. Now, there is only one engine option available with three different trim levels.
**Pricing and Positioning**
At the entry level sits the A6 Premium, starting at $64,100, not including a $1,295 destination charge. This is considerably higher than the previous entry-level A6 Premium, which began at $58,100, for the 2.0-liter variant. Buyers of the previous V6 model had to pay $62,600. Given the enhanced performance and features, an increase of $1,500 is justified.
Positioned in the middle is the A6 Premium Plus, with a starting price of $67,500, which is only $200 more than last year's model. Topping the range is the A6 Prestige, beginning at $71,400, which is in fact less than the $73,350 of the 2025 model.
The new Audi A6 lineup is built on the company’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. The Prestige variant comes standard with electronically controlled dampers, and it can also be outfitted with a Sport Plus package that includes all-wheel steering, a sport rear differential, and steel sport suspension.
Following the European model, the interior of the new A6 features a curved display that integrates an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster along with a 14.5-inch MMI infotainment display. The Prestige version also includes a 10.9-inch MMI display for the front passenger. Additional notable features comprise a head-up display, ambient lighting, and an optional Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system.
