The forthcoming electric 'Urban SUV' is set to make its debut in 2026, positioned below the Bentayga.

We have obtained the initial spy images of the Urban SUV that Bentley plans to offer starting in 2027.

This EV, which is sized smaller than the Bentayga, is built on VW Group’s PPE platform.

It is anticipated to share elements with the Porsche Cayenne Electric and will boast over 800 hp.

Last year, Bentley decided to extend its timeline to become an all-electric brand by 2030, postponing the transition by several years. Nevertheless, its first EV is expected to launch next year, and these spy images are the first visual evidence of a prototype in real-world settings.

The Urban SUV, as it’s named, will be more compact than Bentley’s current combustion-powered Bentayga and features a completely different platform. Whereas the Bentayga utilizes the MLB platform shared with Porsche’s gasoline Cayenne, the Urban SUV will employ the VW Group’s PPE platform that underpins the upcoming Cayenne Electric, which is set to debut shortly.

      What Will It Look Like?

Fitting in below the Bentayga in Bentley’s expanding lineup, the Urban SUV should resemble the Cayenne Electric in size, measuring just under 5 meters (196.9 inches) long. For reference, the Bentayga is 5,125 mm (201.8 inches) in length, while the Extended Wheelbase variant measures 5,305 mm (208.9 inches).

As evident from these prototype images, its design will diverge significantly from the Cayenne EV. It features a squared front end, a flat hood, and pronounced rear fenders, reflecting Bentley’s stylistic cues, though it may be wise not to read too much into the quad headlight arrangement and oval taillights.

This caution is warranted because Bentley showcased its EXP15 concept this summer to illustrate its bold future design direction, and it’s likely that some design elements from that fastback SUV, like the vertical headlights, large square grille, and hairpin-shaped taillights, could potentially feature on the Urban SUV.

While the roofline of this prototype isn’t quite as coupe-like as that of the EXP15, it shows a significantly steeper slope after the B-pillar compared to the Bentayga, contributing to a sportier appearance. The rear doors are also noticeably shorter than those on the Bentayga.

      Power and Performance

Beneath its exterior, there will likely be some shared technology with Porsche’s Cayenne Electric. Although full specifications are still pending, reports indicate that the Porsche will offer three powertrain options: 394 hp (400 PS / 294 kW) for the entry-level Cayenne, 592 hp (600 PS / 441 kW) in the S variant, and 794 hp (805 PS / 592 kW) in the Turbo trim.

Given Bentley’s status within the VW Group structure, it seems reasonable that the Urban SUV – or whatever name it will have at launch – may bypass the entry-level variant of this electric lineup. However, it could utilize the same approximately 108 kWh battery as the Cayenne, which should provide around 350 miles (563 km) of WLTP range and support charging at 400 kW.

A complete reveal of the Urban SUV can be expected in mid-2026, though deliveries will commence in the second quarter of 2027. Pricing has yet to be determined but is expected to be lower than the $207,000 starting price for a Bentayga. While the larger SUV will remain Bentley’s sole combustion engine option, the Urban SUV will exclusively be offered as an electric vehicle. Take a look at the EXP15 images below to get an idea of how the Urban SUV may resemble.
