Five Supercars are Total Losses After This Hauling Truck Caught Fire | Carscoops

      A fiery truck accident resulted in the destruction of five exotic cars on a rally route, with only one Corvette remaining identifiable.

      In Chattanooga, five high-end vehicles were lost due to a transporter catching fire. The truck was transporting two McLarens, two Corvette C8s, and an Audi R8. Authorities have yet to establish the cause of the blaze that interrupted the rally.

      During the annual Crown Rally from Boston to Atlanta, five supercars were lost to a fire in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The situation could have been worse if a proactive motorist hadn't noticed the smoke and alerted the driver of the truck carrying the cars.

      The incident occurred last Thursday. The driver of the transporter, which was loaded with two McLaren 720Ss, a C8 Corvette Z06, a C8 Corvette Stingray, and an Audi R8, was driving on the interstate when another driver informed him about smoke coming from the trailer. He quickly stopped at a QuickTrip station and called 911.

      Despite his rapid response, emergency services were unable to reach the scene in time to save the vehicles. Photos released by the Chattanooga Fire Department on Facebook depict the trailer’s interior completely destroyed by fire, leaving only one Corvette barely recognizable amid the ruins.

      It is believed that the exotic sports cars were being transported following a track day at Atlanta Motorsports Park, which was part of the rally agenda.

      The local fire department has not disclosed the cause of the fire, but speculation suggests it may have originated near the trailer's center. The working hypothesis is that one of the vehicles may have ignited the fire, leading to an estimated $1.5 million in damages. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

      While it is uncommon to see exotic cars consumed by flames in a carrier, fires involving car transporters are not rare. Just last month, several brand-new Teslas were damaged in California when the transporter carrying them caught fire.
