Italdesign is developing a mysterious project that draws inspiration from Honda’s sports car.

The teaser showcases only the NSX and Honda emblems, accompanied by Italdesign branding below.

This vehicle could be a unique or limited-production model created from scratch.

A new venture is underway in Italy, as Italdesign readies a secret model intended as a tribute to the iconic Honda NSX. Details about the car are scarce, but reinterpreting one of Japan's most legendary sports cars will pose a considerable challenge. If Italdesign fails to meet expectations, enthusiasts will surely voice their opinions.

The design house announced the project via a recent post on social media. The teaser image is simple, featuring just the Honda and NSX logos against a blue backdrop, with the Italdesign emblem positioned at the bottom.

It seems that the VW Group-owned studio has received approval from Honda to create a new tribute model from the ground up, possibly akin to what Lamborghini achieved with the Aventador-based Countach LPI 800-4. At this point, it remains unclear whether it will be a one-off project or a limited-run special edition.

Unless Italdesign includes a reference to the second-generation model, all indications point to the tribute focusing on the first-generation NSX. That iteration demonstrated that a sports car could provide both exceptional speed and reliability, merging high performance with everyday practicality in a way that reshaped industry standards.

The original NSX was developed in-house by Honda, though a concept version was revealed in 1984, featuring styling from Pininfarina. The first-generation model has aged gracefully and would provide an excellent foundation for a new rendition.
